Polo shirts are the bread and butter of any businesses uniform. They are recognised for their smart and sleek professional image making them a great choice for those employees who deal with customers on a day-to-day basis. However, those looking to buy often get confused as to which polo shirt will be the best for them and their team. They end up using one which isn’t specifically designed to see to their needs. This is why we have compiled this easy-to-understand guide to ensure you get exactly what you need:

Wicking

This type of polo shirt is most popular in the summer months. The fabric is designed to draw moisture away from the body allowing the wearer to stay dry and cool in those warmer months. Another added benefit is that the material on these polo shirts is generally around 10% lighter than an average polo shirt. It is a great option to kit out your team with if they already work in a very warm environment or just need something cooler for the summer.

100% Cotton

100% cotton polos are highly recommendable for those who seek comfort due to it being the softest and smoothest fabric available. As well as being ideal for those who simply seek comfort, cotton is also a natural fibre making it ideal for those who suffer from skin conditions such as sensitive skin or skin allergies. This includes conditions which are common such as eczema, dermatitis, acne and rashes etc.

Poly-Cotton

Poly-Cotton polo shirts come in different ratios, generally either 65/35 or 50/50. Cotton is renowned for its soft feel and easy wear whereas polyester is a tough and durable material making poly-cotton polos very balanced and complimentary. To decide which ratio would be best for you it depends on what you are prioritising when buying. Those customers who are prioritising comfort are more likely to go with a 50/50 whereas those looking for something a little more hard-wearing and tough tend to go with a 65/35.

Heavyweight

Usually we see the sales of the heavyweights increasing as winter gets nearer. This is because the weight of the fabric used to manufacture these types of polo shirt makes it naturally more insulating than other types. On the whole, heavyweight polo shirts provide a good deal of durability as well due to the thick fabric. However, with heavyweights you can get poly-cotton heavyweight, wicking heavyweight, GSM heavyweight etc.

FR

Flame retardant polos are needed for those working in dangerous environments with open flames, fire or hot objects. It is vitally important to the wearer as these garments prevent serious injury or even death. Our range offers protection right up to the highest levels available in the world and anything we offer has been rigorously tested and approved to industry standards. Organisations that require FR polo shirts or any type of FR garment should conduct a risk assessment in their workplace to determine the level of protection that is needed for employees. This will determine the garments required and the level of protection they must provide.

Lightweight

Lightweight polos are ideal for the members of your team who are more on their feet and active throughout the day. Their easy-to-wear nature mean that the wearer can stay cool and feel light on their feet throughout the day. As well as being great for staff who are on their feet more often than not, they are also highly recommendable for staff who work outdoors due to their lightweight and breathable abilities.
